some quotes

“There are a number of meanings to the title of this lecture. One is that the weather can be a material of architecture. Another is “whether architecture” as in the question “what is architecture?”. Alluding to both meanings, “Weather Architecture” is also a metaphor of the outside pouring into the discipline of architecture. This lecture explores the interdependence of these interpretations in two projects, one a proposal for an Institute of Illegal Architects, the other a proposal for weathering the Barcelona Pavilion.”

Jonathan Hill

Barcelona Pavilion in 1929, Pavilion in photographs from 1930 to 1986 and Reconstructed in 1986

1. Architecture which consists of ephemeral, transient and ever-changing conditions.
VS Architecture as art objects of sterile contemplation.
2. Its presence relative to surroundings rather than that by itself.
3. Architecture is made by use and by design;
a creative user having a role as important in the formulation of architecture
as that of the architect.
