Lightness l Balloon House

The series of words such as softness and etherealness were picked to support the key term ‘Lightness’. The concept of lightness could even extend to the similar or related notions such as uncertainty, flexibility, cheapness, mobility and disposability which have already been explored in the design disciplines and prevailed especially in 1960s and 1970s.
The project was intended to address the potential that architecture of ‘lightness’ can enjoy the weather rather than being afraid of the inevitable force of nature and confronting it by strengthening itself.
The criticism raised in the review was natural and acceptable that the house appears to be not habitable without conceived building form for a typical housing space. I sacrificed the feasibility (making it look like a ‘house’) and instead, take a shape of a balloon to be effective in revealing its changing quality and condition relative to the invisible causes.

Are we ready?

I would like to answer it by instead asking myself what makes architecture and an air-balloon with a tiny platform attached below different.

I want to keep my interest in inflatable structure as a means to materialize the idea in the further study. The potential of the pneumatic structure is relevant to the project considering the materials, the way it obtains shape and how light could be.
